Welcome to Seneca Yacht Club! As the club celebrates its 75th year of promoting sailing on Seneca Lake, we are pleased to welcome members, web visitors and guests to our website.
The club has been located on Boody's Hill Road on the northeast corner of Seneca Lake since 1929. With a primary focus on competitive fleet racing throughout its history, Seneca Yacht Club has been a popular site for local and regional yacht racing events for many decades. Whether it's the excitement of participating in the racing program or relaxing under the willows, this small club on the largest of the Finger Lakes has been a popular place for generations.

The club offers weekly race events throughout the season, junior sailing instruction, social events, facilities for sailboat launching and storage and picnic space for its members and guests.

Fleets currently participating in the racing program include Stars, Thistles and Cruising Class. Our youth program features Vanguard 420's, Sunfish and Lasers. Club races are conducted by a race committee on Sunday mornings between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Holiday weekends feature a series of races. Seneca Yacht Club hosts 3-4 regattas each season.

The facility features 2 1 ton hoists on a paved apron with 5' of draft, two anchorages, clubhouse with locker rooms, lavatories and member kitchen, telephone, storage loft and lounge. A launch ramp for small trailered boats and rack storage are available. 6 slips are available on a first come basis with 110v shore power. The club is adjacent to a marina and restaurant.

The club is managed by a Board of Directors of 12 members, consisting of a Commodore, Vice Commodore, Treasurer, Secretary, Fleet Captain and seven directors at large.

The size of the membership in the Club must necessarily be restricted because of the physical limitations of the Club facilities. Those members wishing to propose prospects for membership may obtain Membership Proposal forms from the Commodore or board members. These are used as a basis for screening based on club purposes, waiting list, qualifications of candidates, etc. before Board approval can be given. Membership is renewed annually, with the exception of life memberships granted by the board. Seneca Yacht Club has pride in its efforts to keep the entire operation simple with a focus on sailing. Volunteer efforts among members reduce the club's operating costs, dues and fees.

In his 35th Anniversary history of the club, charter member Oliver Wood wrote, "To those unfortunate to have had to move away from Geneva, we say —recall a bunch of spinnakers approaching the finish line, the breeze under our shade trees on hot summer afternoons, swimming, cocktail parties and picnics, sunsets and moon and lights of Geneva after dark. Best of all, the fellowship of the finest group of people anywhere." Those words hold true in this era of the club—particularly on its 75th anniversary.
