“Burning of the Socks on the Equinox”
&
Haiku Contest
Initiated in 2009, the annual Burning of the Socks is the first social event of the season. Spring is celebrated on the first Saturday on or after the Spring Equinox. The Sock Burning is an informal get together on the first day of Spring consisting of a bonfire, beer or other beverage, and everyone brings their “winter” socks to burn.

A Haiku Contest has added to the enthusiasm, with contestants competing for "Egg of Wisdom” Award for the best sailing/spring/water themed Haiku…most made up on the spot.
Memorial Day Punch Bowl
Scheduled after fleets return from morning races, at approximately 1:00 PM, the punch bowl is a great midday gathering of the membership. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic punch is served along with hors d'oeuvres.
July 4th Punch Bowl
Scheduled after fleets return from morning races, at approximately 1:00 PM, the punch bowl is a great midday gathering of the membership. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic punch is served along with hors d'oeuvres prepared as a dish to pass. No reservations required.
Commodores Party
This dinner celebrates the midpoint of the social season with a catered dinner at the club. Reservations required; members only.
Cruising Class Dinner
Our cruising class puts this dinner on for the membership at a nominal cost.
Labor Day Punch Bowl
Scheduled after fleets return from morning races, at approximately 1:00 PM, the punch bowl is a great midday gathering of the membership. Alcoholic and nonalcoholic punch is served along with hors d'oeuvres. Sailing Academy awards are presented on this afternoon, after the punch bowl.
Star Class Chili Regatta
Each autumn our Star Class racers gather from the club and region to test their sailing skills, and culinary prowess. A weekend of racing culminating in a Chili cook-off for sailors, family and club members
Hauling Out Party & Annual Meeting
This dinner event is an awards ceremony where trophies are awarded for the racing season. Scheduled on the last weekend in October, fleet championships, crew awards and series awards are presented.
The Anual Meeting consists of the annual Treasurer's report and nomination of the slate of officers and directors. Reservations required.
Regatta Events
Seneca Yacht Club is the site for many regional racing events, with dinners scheduled for Saturday evening. Reservations required.
